Senior project day 14

  Tuesday May 25th, 2021 7:42pm (3.5 hours today) Today was our final day of senior project! We started our day at 8:00am planning our workout for the day. Then at 8:30am we went to the gym to do our workout which was an upper body workout. After that we went back to put the final touches on our workout plan and make sure everything was how we wanted it. Then we had senior seminar at 11:00am. After senior seminar we got to have a delicious lunch. After lunch we took a quick break before going to the training room and having Kelly look over our workout plan before we printed it. After a few slight changes and Kelly's help fixing the blurriness of our meal plan we finished printing and were done for the day, but stayed in the training room to hang out for a bit.

  Monday May 24th, 2021 4:35pm ( 5 hours today) Week 3! With only 2 days left of senior project left we made sure to get lots of work done today. We started our day with a core workout on the turf strip at 8:30 this morning. After that we headed back to do some work on our workout plan. We got lots done on it and only have a few final touches to make tomorrow. We did this until 11:30am when we had to go to senior seminar. After that we went to lunch before getting back to work at 1:00pm. We took a quick coffee break and finished our work for the day around 3:00pm.

Week 2 reflection

  May 23, 2021 Week 2 of senior project was great! This week we spent some time putting together our meal plan. We looked more into our sample plan and adjusted it to our preference. We also spent some time trying to make it more organized and presentable. Also we took some time to meet with Rachel and set up a format for our final project of creating the workout plan. After it had been formatted and we knew what type of workouts to put in certain places of the plan we got started putting it together. We haven’t finished yet, but will continue to finish it up in the next few days. We also of course continued to workout this week. We continued to do less reps with more weight which we had learned during our research is better during the off season. We also switched around some of our workouts. We moved our leg workout to the beginning of the week to avoid being sore for games. We found that the leg workout made us more sore than the others and to give us time to recover before having to

Senior project day 12

  Saturday May 22nd, 2021 11:04pm ( 3 hours of work today) Today we started our day a bit later than normal at 9:00am. We did a quick cardio workout. Once we finished that we headed to the turf strip to roll out. After that we went back to the dorm to do some more work. We made our final meal plan using canva. We chose to use canva because it looked better than just a google doc. We finished our day at 12:00 so we could get lunch before sports.

Senior project day 11

  Friday May 21st, 2021 9:26pm (4 hours of work today) Today we started our workout at 8:00am. We did an agility workout. After that we picked up without work from yesterday. We finalized our meal plan. We took a break at 11:00am and went on a trip to starbucks. When we got back we got a little distracted in conversation, but got back to work for a little at 2:00pm. We then worked on our final workout plan until 3:00pm before we had to go to sports.

  Thursday May 20th, 2021 9:22pm ( 4 hours of work) Today we headed to the turf strip at 8:30am. We did a core workout today, which took about an hour. After that we continued to work on putting together our workout plan. We had to take a break at 11:00am because that's when today’s seminar was. After that we picked back up on the workout plan. Along with that we started to reorganize our meal plan sheet to make it better. We finished with our work at 2:00pm and headed to our sports!

Senior project day 9

  Wednesday May 19th, 2021 10:10pm (3 and a half hours) We started our day early today at 8:00am. Today was our active rest day so we did some yoga, following along on a youtube video. After that we met with our mentor Rachel and ended up on a quick little trip to dunkin. When we got back we spent some time in the training room working on putting together our plan. At 12:00 we took a break for lunch. After lunch we did some planning for tomorrow. We finished up around 1:00 and headed to sports.

Senior project day 8

  Tuesday May 18th,2021 7:44pm (4 and a half hours) We started our day at 8:30 this morning. We rolled out and stretched before beginning an upper body workout. After we finished our workout we looked for a new yoga video for tomorrow. Tomorrow is an active rest day. After that we did some research on the muscles in the human body. We did that until we took a break for lunch at 11:30. After lunch it was back to research. We began to start putting our workout plan together today! We worked on that until 1:30 when we called it a day.

  Monday May 17th, 2021 6:43pm (4 and a half hours of work today) Today was the start of week 2 of senior project! We started our day at 8:30 this morning. We started the week with a leg workout because we found last week that leg workouts made us more sore than others and we want to make sure we are not sore for games. After that we went back to do some research. We started by planning an upper body workout for tomorrow. After that we went back to finishing up some research on nutrition. We took a break for lunch at 11:30 then did some more research from 12 to 1:30 when we ended our day.

Reflection- Week one

  May 16, 2021 Week 1 Reflection This week was the start of senior project! This week we learned which workouts and exercises work best and which don’t. Also we learned what foods are good for muscle gain and looked into meal plans. We tried to make a sample meal plan that would work for us with 3 meals and snacks. We also learned about the 5 components of fitness. We used what we learned to help find workouts targeted to these. I liked what we were doing this week. I enjoyed being able to workout and then being able to also go and do some research to learn how specific workouts help certain muscles and to learn about the effect nutrition can have on muscles gain. Our project has gone how we have expected it with no surprises except a trip to starbucks. Things have been on track and we have planned for the whole week. We will benefit from these weeks activities because the workouts will be altered after for the upcoming week and we will have gotten rid of things we found didn’t work. A

  Saturday May 15th, 2021 9:50pm (3 hours of work today) This morning we had an early start to our day at 8:00am. We did cardio this morning before we headed in to stretch roll out since we were pretty tight. After that we headed back to get some work done. We first planned for our workout on Monday, which will be leg day. After that we tried to plan on how we would go about putting together our plan which we will start doing next week. We finished doing that at around 11am. It was a bit of a shorter day than normal today because we had to get ready for our games today which were earlier than normal. We will just have to do some extra work to catch up next week.

  Friday May 14th, 2021 9:38pm (4 hours of work today) Today we started our day at the gym at 8:30am again. We did an ab workout that took about an hour. After that we met with our mentor, Rachel, to talk about what we had gotten done this week. After that we took a break for some starbucks and then lunch. After that we spent 2 hours doing some more research. We looked into why certain food groups are important to gaining muscles. We ended the day at 2 before our sports.

  Thursday May 13th, 2021 6:31pm ( 4 hours of work today) Today we started our day once again at the gym at 8:30am. After rolling and stretching it was time to start our workout for the day. Today’s workout was lower body. After our workout we planned for our workout tomorrow until 11:30am when we had a break for lunch. Once we were done with lunch we went right back to doing research at 12:00pm. We looked some more into nutrition today. After about an hour of research we ended our day at 1 for a total of 4 hours of work.

  Wednesday May 12th, 2021 9:47pm (3 and 1/2 hours of work today) Today we began our third day of senior project at 8:30am. Today was a recovery day, so we did some yoga! We used a youtube video to guide us through some yoga. It was a nice way to relax, but also get in some good work with stretching. After that we planned for our lower body workout for tomorrow before taking a break for lunch at 11am. After lunch we picked back up with some research from yesterday. After about an hour of research we finished for the day at 12:30pm before heading to sports.

Tuesday May 11th, 2021 7:50pm (4 hours of work today) At 8:30 this morning Rachel B and I started our day by rolling out and stretching. After that we got into our workout for the day which was an upper body workout, which took about an hour. Once our workout was over we checked in with Rachel M and talked about our plan for the day. After a quick break we started our research and looked into what our plan would be for our yoga day tomorrow. Once we were all set with our plan for tomorrow we took a break for lunch. After lunch we looked into the 5 components of physical fitness. We made sure that we were covering all of them in our workouts planned for the work and looked into how each is important to overall fitness and ended our day at 1:30.

  Monday May 10th, 2021 7:45pm ( 4 and a half hours of work today) Today was the first day of senior project. Rachel Bachman and I started our morning by meeting Rachel Moore at the gym at 9am. We talked with Rachel M. about our plan for the project and what we should accomplish by the end of the day.We decided that this week we would test out different workouts. After talking with Rachel M we began to do research about what types of workouts are best for an off season workout for hockey players and picked which ones we would be using. We then made an outline of our workout plans for the week, focusing on different aspects of fitness each day. Then we looked into what foods were best for gaining muscle, what foods to avoid and what good foods for gaining muscle are, which took us until 11:30, when we took a break for lunch. After lunch at 12 we created a sample meal plan outline. Then we looked at what workouts we would want to do for our agility workout which we went to do around 1.
